Qīn ài de tóng xué men(Dear Students)

Dàjiāhǎo, Herkese Merhaba,

-I am pleased to be here today on
the occasion of this graduation ceremony.

-I was also with you
during the last year’s graduation ceremony as well.

-I must say that you always welcome
us with great sincerity.

-You make us feel at home. Thank you
for your warm hospitality.

-First of all, I wholeheartedly congratulate all the students
for their successful graduation.

-I convey my sincere thanks to the Beijing Language and Culture
University for inviting me once again to share my humble remarks on this
occasion.

Distinguished
Faculty Members,

-Beijing Language and
Culture University holds a unique place in the academic world of China,
bringing together students from many different countries and cultures.

-I deeply appreciate your university’s mission to build such academic and
cultural connections.

-It is a great example showing how language can make people from
different cultural backgrounds, including Türkiye and China, build stronger
bonds.

Dear
Students,

-Today is a significant moment in your lives.

-It is a new step towards your professional lives.

-I sincerely hope that all of you will begin a successful career where
you can exert your knowledge and talents you have built up until now.

-I humbly recommend you one thing:

-You should never forget that education is a life-long journey, not only
limited to university.

-Therefore, you render every day to learning new things.

-I firmly believe that this is the key to pursue a successful
professional life and to have a fulfilling life in general.

Distinguished
Faculty Members,

-Academic collaboration is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen
ties between nations.

-Türkiye and China share a long history of friendship and cooperation.

-Starting from the ancient Silk Road, our nations have long been partners
in trade and cultural exchanges.

-Today, this partnership has expanded into various areas.

-Under the great vision of our leaders, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and
H.E. Xi Jinping, we witness the speedy development of our bilateral relations in
every field.

-We are also strengthening collaboration in regional and international
platforms such as the United Nations and the G20.

-Since I assumed my duty in Beijing in 2023, several Ministerial level
visits from both countries were realized, including our Foreign Ministers.

-We are also hopefully expecting to witness Presidential level visits in
the coming year.

Distinguished
Academics,

-I firmly believe that one of the most important pillars of our
cooperation is in the field of academic exchange.

-Because, language and culture are the foundation of stronger diplomatic
ties, economic partnerships and people-to-people interactions.

-And You, as scholars of a deep-rooted university, certainly make
valuable contributions to the development of cultural and educational
cooperation between China and other countries, including Türkiye.

Dear
Students, Distinguished Scholars,

-Türkiye attaches great importance to Chinese culture and language.

-More than 30 universities in Türkiye have cooperation agreements with
various leading universities in China.

-Mutual scholarships are awarded to students and academics on a regular
basis every year.

-I am happy to learn that there are 29 Turkish students in the BLCU and 2
of them will graduate today.

-Nevertheless, we would like to see more Turkish students in Chinese
universities.

-The number of scholarships should be increased given the momentum of our
bilateral relations.

-Having more Turkish students in China will also better address the
demands of Chinese and Turkish companies for qualified employees with Chinese
and Turkish language proficiency.

-There are more than 1200 Chinese companies operating in Türkiye and
nearly 100 Turkish companies in China.

-I personally know that Turkish and Chinese companies operating in both
countries are in dire need of hiring such qualified personnel.

-Meanwhile, Chinese is taught as a selective course in some secondary level
schools in Türkiye under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education.

-Additionally, there are 4 Confucius Institutes operating within the
campuses of the most prominent Turkish universities
(Middle East Technical, Boğaziçi, Yeditepe and Okan Universities).

-We are pleased to see that more and more Turkish students are interested
in learning Chinese language and culture.

-We hope to see a similar increase in the interest of Chinese students to
learn Turkish culture and language.

-To serve this goal, Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Center has been
established in Beijing in 2021.

-Our Chinese friends can learn more about Turkish Culture through the
events and activities organized by our Culture Center.

-They can also benefit from the online Turkish Language Courses provided
by the Center.

-Today, Mr. Eyüp Sarıştaş, the new director of the Culture Center is also
with us.

-He is a professor in Sinology.

-Professor Eyüp Saristaş is in fact an old fellow of your university. He conducted
academic research here at the BLCU, between 1997 and 1998.

-In fact, Türkiye has prominent scholars in the field of Sinology.

-Among them, Professor Giray Fidan is also anotherdistinguished Sinologist who makes significant
contributions to Chinese studies in both Türkiye and China.

-Professor Giray Fidan has translated several Chinese classics to
Turkish. Among them;

-Art of War of Sun Tzu,

-Art of Governance of Wang Jing,

-Dream of the Red Chamber of Cao Xueqin.

-As two ancient cultures of Asia, we believe that there is a rich
academic content for scholars to examine about the two cultures.

-We believe that the output of such academic studies will greatly
contribute to the deepening of bilateral relations between Türkiye and China.

Dear
Faculty Members,

-When I attended the last year’s graduation ceremony here, I had put forward
some suggestions for deeper academic cooperation.

-On this occasion, I would like to elaborate my suggestions.

-First of all, I firmly believe that Türkiye and China should establish a
Joint University.

-Such a Joint University could focus on various strategic areas and
disciplines including both natural and social sciences.

-We can realize this goal with the valuable cooperation of the BLCU as
well.

-Establishing partnership for this goal between the BLCU and a Turkish
university will highly serve this objective.

-Additionally, regular academic forums, hosted alternately in Türkiye and
China, could serve as platforms for dialogue on global issues, academic trends
and collaborative opportunities.

-We can also consider hosting cultural events co-organized by the Yunus
Emre Culture Center and the BLCU in this beautiful campus.

-Such events will certainly attract the interest of many students.

-As the Ambassador of Türkiye, I will be most honored to take part in all
these endeavors.

Dear
Students,

-As I conclude my remarks, I congratulate you once again with my most
sincere feelings and wish you success and happiness in your future careers.
